The Simple Truth
The Simple Truth, hosted by Jim Havens, airs each weekday from 4-5PM(EST) on The Station of the Cross Media Network. The focus of the show is authentically receiving, living, and transmitting the simple Truth of Jesus and His Catholic Church. We're in challenging times, but we are made to rise up and meet the challenges before us with Christ. We'll be proclaiming all that is good, true, and beautiful, applying it to real life, and we won't shy away from the difficult topics, especially lifting up the truth in those areas where it is most unpopular, and therefore most needed. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church states: "The disciple of Christ consents to 'live in the truth,' that is, in the simplicity of a life in conformity with the Lord's example, abiding in his truth. "If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth." Join us live on the radio, on YouTube, Facebook, or listen to the podcast!

11/27/24 - Edvige Carboni was an extraordinary mystic who spent her life between the natural and the supernatural. Her interaction with the supernatural world was an almost-daily occurrence, as Jesus, Mary and the saints appeared to her constantly. She also received the stigmata and had many other spiritual gifts such as ecstasies, bilocation, levitation, reading of hearts, discernment of spirits and frequent visits from souls in purgatory. She lived a life of charity helping the needy, visiting the sick, and praying and suffering for the conversion of sinners and the souls in Purgatory. Pope Francis approved her beatification in November of 2018.

11/26/24 - Bishop Joseph Strickland returns to the show to unpack a recent letter that he read outside of the annual USCCB meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, in which he warned his brother bishops about God's judgment on bishops who do not guard the church, and accused them of "silently watching as the Synod on Synodality took place, an abomination constructed not to guard the Deposit of Faith, but to dismantle it." What's going on in the life of the church that worries His Excellency enough to feel compelled to make this strongly worded statement? Let's ask him!

11/21/24 - Pam Stenzel is the founder of Enlighten Communications Inc., which tackles today's tough issues of sex with candor, insight, humor, and the challenge for young people to make the healthiest choice and save sex for marriage. She has spoken to over 500,000 young people on the importance of abstinence. She is currently the Senior Regional Clinic Director for Community Pregnancy Clinics in Central and Southwest Florida and serves on the board of directors for Safe Haven Baby Boxes and directs their crisis hotline. Walter Hoye is a licensed and ordained Baptist preacher who serves as both President and Founder of the Issues4life Foundation, the California Civil Rights Foundation, Founder of the Frederick Douglass Foundation of California, Core Member of the National Black Pro-Life Coalition, and sits on the board of The Morning Center, which was founded to provide free full-service maternity care for women in urban and under-served areas. The Boston Men's March took place this past weekend, and the resistance was out in full force. It is now being reported that seventeen arrests were made during the event, including the "transgender daughter" of the second highest ranking Democrat in the US House of Representatives, Katherine Clark. Unsurprisingly, all of the reported arrests came from the pro-abortion side, who did their best to impede the peaceful proceedings of the march. We'll bring you a frontline recap of what was a wild day in the streets of America's most historically Catholic city. WATCH HERE for a look at the scene on Saturday: https://youtu.be/tteI57j78IA

11/20/24 - Elizabeth of Hungary traveled what many would consider to be an unusual path to sainthood. The daughter of King Andrew II, one might assume that Elizabeth would place wealth and societal status at the forefront of her life. However, she instead chose to devote the majority of her short life to helping the sick and the poor, eventually joining the Third Order of St. Francis. A number of miracles occurred during Elizabeth's earthly life, the most well-known of which depicts her carrying loaves of bread which were suddenly transformed into roses. We'll unpack all of the details to pull back the curtain on the life of this patron saint of Christian charity whose feast day we celebrated on November 17th.

11/18/24 - Dr. Daniel McInerny is associate professor and chair of the philosophy department at Christendom College in Front Royal, Virginia. He is also a novelist and dramatist. As a scholar, he is foremost interested in reactivating an Aristotelian understanding of art as imitation, long out of favor among philosophers. The human person is a truth seeker, and one of the most compelling ways human beings pursue truth is through the arts. In Beauty and Imitation: A Philosophical Reflection on the Arts, Dr. McInerny argues for an understanding of art as a form of inquiry into truth that proceeds by way of sensible beauty. Drawing upon the thought of Aristotle and St. Thomas Aquinas, McInerny argues for the unfashionable yet philosophically compelling view that art is essentially "mimetic," imitative of human action. But what does it mean for art to imitate human action? It means that art imitates the way human beings by nature quest for fulfillment, or happiness. In questing for fulfillment, human life takes the form of a story, and so the arts—all the arts, from painting to music, from fiction to film—are storytelling arts whose beauty reveals the truth about human happiness.
